Awkward Hug.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan, I have been since 1999.
this has to be the MOST AWKWARD hug in the history of film hugs.
From Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

& for me, this is a classic giggle(and most likely why EB and I are such good friends). From Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince....ohhh Warner Brothers, Dumbledore SO wouldn't makes this face!

This is just a little follow up on my April 2nd post of things I wanted in spring( Since we didn't have a spring (just rain), my wish list carried over nicely into summer.
I did extremely well with my list, here is what I came out with!

1. Sam Edelman's: My big splurge of the summer, these fantastic shoes make my life very happy!! For some reason I don't have a good picture of me in them, so this is all I can do:
2. Round Sunglasses: I ended up with a wonderful pair of round Ray Bans that Jonathan got for me in Vancouver, BC. Picture also includes #5, Vintage Hat
3. Backpack: I got this cute faux leather backpack at Spring for back to school!
4. Tassels: I got 2 tasseled pieces that I love, a faux leather belt a la H&M and Runway by Joe Fresh leather heels.

5.Vintage Hat: I got this hat at Urban Cottage Antiques and Collectibles (1819 Granville Street, Halifax, NS). See above for pic.
This is my favorite antique shop in the city and I've got a lot of great items there from this hat, to my 1940's bed frame and everywhere in between including chairs, coffee table, lamps and jewelry!

6. I've looked all over, I couldn't find any double rings I like in Halifax or Toronto! Next stop!

7.Replacement Leather Jacket: I've been searching for a new leather jacket because mine was in pretty bad shape! It took about a year to find one I wanted, and I ended up with this super cool Levi's jacket from Kensington Market in Toronto, On. $49 well spent!

Even though lots of these pieces will carry over into Fall for me, I'm sure I'll have a Fall/Winter wish list soon!

I have my European History exam tonight, the only thing my brain has room for is (in no particular order) enlightenment, the glorious revolution, the french revolutions, the great depression, peasant revolts, lenin, wwI, wwII, cold war, stalin, treaties and pacts of all sorts, capital cities, socialism and Napoleon Bonaparte. I don't know what it is with this following image of Napoleon, maybe that I'm so used to him being painted in military clothing, but I love this painting of him 1806. I hope you like it as much as I do!

"Napoleon I on his Imperial Throne, by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, 1806"

Now THAT is an emporior if I've ever seen one!

7 Things I want for Spring 2011.

Spring is just around the corner, so here are some things on my spring wishlist, in no particular order:

#1 Spiked heels.
Sam Edelman, $199. #2 Round Sunglasses #3 A Backpack, a la Ashley Olsen. I know what you're thinking, but really, I WANT.
Spring, $39.99. #4 Something with Tassels!
French Connection, $128. #5 A Vintage Hat with Veil. So I can't find exactly what I want (or I'd have it by now) but I want it to give this feeling: #6 More Multifinger Rings. (Can't have too many!)
Top Shop, £15. And Last, and definitely not least...

#7 a replacement Leather Jacket.

April Fools.

Yesterday was gorgeous: 8 degrees and sunny. I wore a knee length skirt with bare legs, I was in heaven. Today is awful. The forecast warned me, but I was hoping it was some kind of sick aprils fool joke, sadly, no. I think theweathernetwork says it best:

Yuck! I got a couple of those ice pellets to the face before I took shelter and called a cab! /

But before facing the weather I hunkered down in the library to do “research” (aka, looking at pretty pictures in fashion books). Today I found an awesome book, “American Fashion Menswear” by Robert E. Bryan 2009. For any of you fashionable boys out there you NEED to flip through this book! My favourite image is a Tommy Hilfiger ad from 2008… Can someone track down this man to be my boyfriend? PLEASE?? He is perfect. (thanks AJ for editing the picture for me!) I also love this stripped shirt and paisley tie combo from Geoffrey Beene, circa 1990. Other highlights of today, a German Tailoring book published in 1922, and a sewing book published in 1986 with my domestic sewing machine on the cover.

A well spent stormy afternoon inside.

Liberty and Nike?

I love love love love Liberty fabrics. Actually, I love anything Liberty. All I can say is I want/need these sneakers....and I don't even like sneakers.

Side Note: likey my vintage Liberty tie? I found it at Value Village for 99cents. As well as my other favourite ties (which obviously aren't Liberty)

c-3po love.

After finding out about the super cool clothes from Black Milk
( I've been stalking their facebook group as often as possible ( If you're not already a fan, you should be. I want everything they sell, sadly the old bank account doesn't feel the same. :(

When I found out they were discontinuing the "Threepio" suit, I had to jump on it. My inner nerd would never forgive me if I didn't!
It has arrived all the way from Australia! I LOVE IT.

Sorry about the tacky mirror shot, but I just wanted to share:) Bring on the summer!!

I have a shoe addiction. But honestly, who doesnt?

I love love the Free People online store. I dream about how cool I would be if I could afford more of their clothes. LOL

Today, here are some shoes I want to rock this spring:
(the 2 pairs of sandals are Jeffrey Campbell, which is one of my fav shoe brands, and I think I need a replacement for my JC Gladiators that finally wore out this summer:( )

Behida Dolić.

Lately I've been wasting time in the Killam Library before class looking at vintage clothing books. I love love vintage hats, but sadly I'm a lot bigger than the average woman was 50+ years ago... so along with vintage gloves and shoes, they're hard to find!
I am DROOLING over these amazing hats by Behida Dolić. She is a Bosnian designer now based out of Berkeley, California.
These hats are so 1940's but with lovely modern twists. If I had some extra cash laying around I would love to own one of this statement hats. They're priced $150-$450. These are some of my favourites, clearly I had trouble narrowing it down:
